The All-New BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle®
The second generation of a vehicle that launched an entire segment

In 2004 BMW introduced a new concept to the market: A small, premium Sports Activity Vehicle with all-road capability and unparalleled driving dynamics. This first generation BMW X3 became a best seller in the BMW line...both in the United States and in Europe. Through its life cycle, over 600,000 original X3s have been sold worldwide with 150,000 sold in the USA. Subsequently, several competitors have entered the now hotly contested segment.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - July 14, 2010...

The new second generation BMW X3 builds on the success of the original by developing its core competencies, while adding new technology to establish new benchmarks for agility, efficiency and comfort. The new BMW X3 will be produced in an expansion of the BMW Spartanburg, South Carolina plant and is expected to arrive in U.S. BMW Centers by the end of 2010.

Design: Exterior
The design of the new BMW X3 conveys elegance, agility and ruggedness. Up front, the forward-slanting BMW kidney grille and large headlight assembly combine with a powerful-looking front apron and hood, boasting six contour lines sweeping down to meet at the kidney grill, giving the X3 a bold presence. The twin round headlights, combined with the round fog lamps, form the triangular light pattern that is characteristic of the BMW SAV design. The upper edge of the headlight assembly sports an accentuating chrome trim, creating the focused design typical of BMW vehicles. BMW's signature ''Corona Rings'' are again illuminated to function as the daytime running lights. When equipped with the optional Xenon headlights, the Corona Rings and daytime running lights are illuminated by bright white LEDs.

The BMW M6 Coupe & Convertible arrive summer 2012

The iconic M6 returns from a two year hiatus more powerful, more athletic, more focused, more luxurious and more efficient than ever before. Since the "M6" badge was first placed on a BMW back in 1987, this iconic model has exemplified the luxury and daily usability of a top range BMW coupe combined with true super-car performance. Now, in its 3rd generation, the all-new BMW M6 will again be offered as a 4-seat Coupe and Convertible.

The new 2012 BMW M6 Convertible will be the first to arrive in US BMW center showrooms in June 2012. The BMW M6 Coupe will arrive at US BMW centers in the late summer of 2012 as a 2013 model. US Pricing, technical specification, EPA mileage ratings, standard and optional equipment will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

The BMW ActiveHybrid 535i arrives spring 2012

BMW takes the development of intelligent hybrid drive systems to the next level with the introduction of the BMW ActiveHybrid 5, another series produced model in which a combustion engine and electric motor join forces to enhance both efficiency and the brand's hallmark driving pleasure. The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 brings together a BMW TwinPower Turbo in-line 6-cylinder engine, an electric drive system and an 8-speed automatic gearbox for the first time. The latest generation of BMW ActiveHybrid technology also adds precisely controlled and therefore extremely effective intelligent energy management. All of which gives the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 an exceptional balance of performance and fuel efficiency for the benchmark performance sedan in the premium executive car class. Its drive system generates combined output of 335 hp, allowing the car to be driven on electric power alone up to 37 mph (60 km/h) for 2.5 miles (4km), and accelerates the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds (preliminary).

The BMW ActiveHybrid 5 will arrive as a 2012 model in US showrooms in March 2012 with a base MSRP of $61,845 (including $895 destination and handling). The 300 hp inline-6 with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology in the BMW ActiveHybrid 5 is the same engine well-known for its free-revving capability, pulling power and efficiency in the BMW 535i. The electric motor develops 54 hp and is supplied with energy by a high-performance lithium-ion battery housed in the trunk.

The BMW X1 arrives summer 2012

Agility + elegance = joy to the power of X. This is the formula on which the BMW X1 is based. At first glance it is a compact BMW X model. The second glance comes with the challenge to explore something new. For example, an efficient SUV with BMW driving dynamics. Either with sDrive, with characteristic BMW rear-wheel drive that separates steering from the engine so that every wheel can carry out its own task to perfection. Or as xDrive, with the intelligent all-wheel drive system and optional Performance Control that combines traction and agility. The powerful straight six-cylinder gas and four-cylinder gas and diesel engines work alongside BMW EfficientDynamics, a package of intelligent measures such as the Auto Start Stop function, the gear shift indicator and Brake Energy Regeneration, to guarantee outstanding efficiency. The maximum five stars awarded in the Euro NCAP crash test unite a clear conscience with a reliable safety.

The BMW 2013 M5 arrives late summer 2012.

Dynamic and alluring both inside and out, the all-new BMW M5 is in a class of its own.

Its Nürburgring-honed performance starts with the most powerful engine ever fitted into a series-produced BMW M model. The high-revving 560-hp M TwinPower Turbo V-8 generates 500 lb-ft of peak torque from 1500 to 5750 rpm. A new 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission transfers every ounce of power to the road, for a lightning-fast 0-60 sprint.

Inspired new BMW EfficientDynamics technologies, such as Auto Start-Stop function and Brake Energy Regeneration, make the M5 an impressive 25 percent more efficient than its predecessor.

BMW has confirmed that it will offer a 6-speed manual transmission on the North American version of the upcoming 2013 BMW M5. The 6-speed manual will be available from the start of production this summer and will be offered as a no-cost alternative to the standard 7-speed M-Double Clutch Transmission (DCT). The manual gearbox was a popular choice for U.S. customers of the previous generation M5 and continues to be a unique offer in the segment.

Though the 6-speed gearbox has one less gear than the M-DCT transmission, the ratios have been optimized for acceleration, flexibility and fuel economy. Final drive ratio and special M Active differential are maintained. The new transmission is mated to a short throw shift linkage topped with a black leather backlit shift knob.
