2012 BMW M5 Coming Soon!

We are sure that you are just as excited as we are at Park Ave BMW in Maywood NJ for the all new 2012 BMW M5 to arrive.

Here what Brian Watts, head of BMW M sales has to say about the newest M to hit the dealerships.

Last month at Laguna Seca, California, BMW introduced to the US public the all-new 2012 BMW M5. The super sporty and classy sedan will have its world public debut next week at the Frankfurt Auto Show, followed by a market launch in the United States in Spring of 2012.

Brian Watts, BMW M Head of Sales, was present at the event and took the time to talk to journalists about the F10 M5 and the technology that stands behind one of the most exciting M cars.

Watts spends some time with Automotive Rhythms to go over some of the technical specs and improvements over previous generations.

With the new super sporty sedan, BMW has moved on from from naturally aspirated engines to a TwinPower turbocharged V8. The high-revving 4.4-liter (4395cc) turbocharged uses the BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology, twin-scroll turbochargers, high-precision direct fuel injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve control and a cross-bank exhaust manifold that guarantees legendary BMW M-car thrust with seamless lag-free power delivery from just off idle.

The engine outputs 560 horsepower from 5,750-7,000 rpm and 680Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque from only 1500rpm. The high-rev unit should rocket the M5 to 62 mph in 4.4 seconds and under 4 seconds using BMWâ??s new Launch Control.

BMW offers a 7-speed DCT and manual transmission in the new M5. The M5 is limited to a top speed of 155 mph, or 190 mph with the M Driverâ??s Package.

Not only can you see real time traffic through BMW's ConnectedDrive, you can view it online!  Come to Park Ave BMW in Maywood, NJ to see how it works!

Munich. BMW ConnectedDrive offers innovative services and features for establishing intelligent networks between the driver, the vehicle and the world at large, enabling BMW customers to enjoy unparalleled comfort, Infotainment and safety while on the road. BMW was the first manufacturer worldwide to introduce the wide range of unique features and functions that are available with BMW ConnectedDrive.

The company continues to lead the competition by leveraging its pioneering know-how to launch exclusive new features and technologies for BMW owners. The latest innovation is an enhancement for users of the BMW Routes Portal: Customers who have subscribed to the BMW Assist and BMW Online features offered in BMW ConnectedDrive now have access to the latest traffic reports via Real-Time Traffic Information (RTTI) from the Web portal with any Internet-enabled device. Previously users could only access this service while in the vehicle.

RTTI is a reliable and precise solution that transmits traffic information in real time for planning travel routes and avoiding congested areas or unfavourable conditions in advance. The programme uses local traffic data and tracks the anonymous movement profiles of mobile communication devices in dynamic networks, thus creating a precise overview of the current traffic situation by determining the number, speed and positions of vehicles currently on the road. The advantage of this approach is in the speed and accuracy of the data transmission when compared to traffic reports broadcast by radio. Whatâ??s more, RTTI is able to monitor real-time data from taxis or fleet vehicles having navigation systems that communicate with central dispatchers â?? this adds to the speed and accuracy of information that points to traffic problems. In addition to motorways and expressways, RTTI also covers secondary roads, city streets and interurban connections.

The online usage of RTTI in the BMW Routes Portal is available on the Internet at www.bmw-routen.de or internationally at www.bmw-routes.com and contributes to comfort, safety and peace of mind when travelling by car. BMW ConnectedDrive customers can enter their destination online at anytime and easily plan their next route. They can also access traffic information about incidents or traffic flow, in addition to defining route criteria and requesting alternative routes from the system. Based on the current traffic situation, the route planner can also calculate the exact time of arrival. And if traffic conditions should change or worsen once a route has been planned, the route planner can send the driver an e-mail well in advance and suggest an earlier departure time. This allows the driver to continue working at the office or take part in a meeting without worrying about when to get behind the wheel â?? the route planner will indicate the precise time to leave for the next appointment. That saves time and reduces stress.

All BMW ConnectedDrive subscribers can also be sure that the data they receive online from the BMW Routes Portal at home or in the office matches the information transmitted to their car â?? 100 percent. Whatâ??s more, the transmission of RTTI-optimized route data directly to the vehicle can take place via USB stick or BMW Online.

The online usage of RTTI beyond the confines of the vehicle environment will also be possible with the My BMW Remote App on supported smartphones beginning in the autumn of 2011.

2012 BMW M5

The 2012 BMW M5 has finally landed on U.S. shores and BMW has trotted out its oldest sibling - the same E28 we drove last year - at California's Laguna Seca raceway to mark the occasion.

After its debut at the Nürburgring early this year, BMW boxed up its latest M machine for the festivities here in Monterey and will be shuffling it around to various events throughout the week.

Our first in-the-flesh impressions are beyond favorable, with an exterior that's far less gauche than its predecessor, finally putting the "executive" back in "executive sports sedan." Inside, the professional demeanor carries over, with less flash and a more driver-focused interior.

As if you need a reminder, the M5 now packs a modified version of the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 fitted to the X5 M and X6 M, putting out 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque - the latter of which is available from 1,500 to over 5,750 rpm. Redline is a decidedly un-M-like 7,250 rpm, but the blast to 60 mph happens in claimed 4.2 seconds when fitted with the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

And what about a manual option? BMW officials delivered the standard "we're looking into it" line, but we suspect they're already testing a six-speed 'box that could be an option after the M5 goes on sale in the U.S. this February. Check out our high-res gallery above and let us know what you think in Comments.
